Project Background:

The customer required a caster solution for its heavy-duty cargo transport trailers, which need to carry 10–15 tons of goods and frequently move across various floor types in logistics centers, including epoxy flooring, concrete, and slightly oily surfaces. The casters must offer high load capacity, low noise, and anti-slip performance.

Challenges:
  1. Load Requirement: Each caster must support 15 tons and maintain structural integrity during long-term operation.
  2. Ground Adaptability: The casters must be compatible with different floor types (epoxy flooring, concrete, oily surfaces) while minimizing floor wear.
  3. Noise Control: In logistics centers, caster operation must remain below 60 decibels to avoid disturbing staff.
Solution:
  • Frame Design: A cast steel forming technique (20mm steel plate thickness) was used to ensure fatigue resistance under high load conditions.
  • Wheel Material: A polyurethane dual-wheel structure (450mm diameter) was selected for its non-marking and high wear-resistant properties, which help protect the flooring in logistics centers.
  • Bearing Technology: A dual-row ball race and flat ball bearing system were integrated to improve rotational flexibility and reduce turning resistance.
  • Shock Absorption: Shock-absorbing components (such as springs or cushion pads) were added between the frame and connecting parts to reduce vibration transmission during transport.
  • Customization: The wheel width and frame connection method (e.g., bolt reinforcement) were adjusted according to the trailer’s dimensions and load distribution to ensure compatibility.
Results and Data:
  • Load Capacity: Each caster supports 15 tons, increasing the trailer’s overall load capacity by 30%.
