Development of a Heavy-Duty Reset Caster for Automated Assembly Lines
Project Focus: To solve the persistent issue of caster misalignment on heavy-duty automated guided carts (AGCs) in a automotive assembly plant.
The Challenge: Standard heavy-duty casters, when subjected to lateral forces or impacts, would often remain in a misaligned position. This caused AGCs to veer off their programmed path, leading to production stoppages, safety risks, and manual intervention.
Our Solution: We engineered a proprietary Heavy-Duty Reset Caster. The key innovation is an internal spring-loaded self-centering mechanism. Once the lateral force is removed, the caster automatically and forcefully snaps back to its neutral, straight-ahead position.
Key Features:
High-tensile steel construction for loads up to 2.5 tons.
Patented torsion spring mechanism for precise and reliable resetting.
Sealed ball bearings for smooth operation in industrial environments.
Results Achieved:
99% Reduction in manual caster realignment tasks.
Increased AGC path accuracy, reducing production line stoppages by 30%.
Enhanced operational safety by eliminating unpredictable vehicle movements.
